The Lost
Continent®
The Lost Continent is the island of
ancient gods, legends, and myths. Standing guard at the two entrances are two
impressive, intimidating griffins. This rather large continent is divided into
three basic sections. They are, in order of appearance starting from Seuss
Landing, The Lost City, Sinbad Bazaar, and Merlinwood. The Lost City section is
overflowing with ancient ruins. Sinbad Bazaar is a bustling village crammed with
all kinds of shops. Merlinwood is in a forest-type setting where mythical
creatures become a reality. The Lost Continent is also home to Mythos, nominated
the best theme park restaurant several times by the Theme Park Insider. In this
island of chivalry, wizardry, and magic, countless adventures of epic
proportions await around every bend.

Dueling Dragons:
This attractions starts out with menacing statues of the Fire and Ice dragons. Once you enter the castle you'll experience the best queue ever designed. It is almost like being in a haunted house while waiting. You see several frozen or burned knights along the way and learn the story of the two dragons that occupy the premises. Before boarding you must make a choice. This attractions consists of two different inverted roller coasters which are each unique. During your ride you will come within inches of a high speed collision with the other coaster as they are timed by computer to get as close as possible. Both the Fire and Ice are spectacular coasters with Ice showcasing the near misses and Fire throwing in a very unique air-time hill.

Toon Lagoon®
Toon Lagoon, the crazy and colorful world
of the Sunday funnies, is populated by numerous cartoon and comic strip
characters including Hagar the Horrible, Cathy, Beetle Bailey, Dudley
Do-Right, Popeye, and Betty Boop, just to name a few. The "Lagoon" part
of the name is no joke as water is very heavily used, not only in every
attraction but the entire island. The three distinct areas that make up
Toon Lagoon are Comic Strip Lane, Sweet Haven, and the Wacky World of
Jay Ward. The bright, energetic Comic Strip Lane is made up of a sundry
of shops and restaurants. The seaport town of Sweet Haven is home to the
Popeye characters and contains two of the island’s three attractions.
The last section, the Wacky World of Jay Ward, is located at the edge of
the island near the Jurassic Park border and consists of one attraction.
Toon Lagoon is definitely an extremely wet fantasy world full of fun and
laughter geared toward both kids and adults.

Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls
Ripsaw Falls is an updated version of the popular flume ride. The unique aspect is the drop begins at a 45 degree angle just as Splash Mountain does, but then it increases to 50 degrees giving the feeling you may just flip over. This is by far the most thrilling drop at Islands of Adventure even when compared to its coasters.

Marvel Super Hero Island®
Marvel Super Hero Island is the place
where the Marvel super heroes and super villains come to life. Simple,
to-the-point names such as Ice Cream and Store are displayed on the
buildings of this fantastic city where good constantly fights evil,
reflecting the same characteristics found in the comic books. On the
buildings are painted flats of the comic book characters, battling for
control of the city. Bold, bright colors along with an amazing music
loop bring the fantasy world of the Marvel Comics stars to the real
world. Travel down Stan Lee Boulevard or Yancy Street for super hero
adventures not to be missed. Try riding the Incredible Hulk, a thrilling
coaster that shoots you speeding out right from the start. Or The
Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, a simulator ride set in New York.

Ride Reviews:
The Incredible Hulk
The Hulk is very similar to the Kumba at Busch Gardens but the "launch" makes all the difference in the world. After engaging the lift hill which looks a little odd anyway, you creep up about half way before being launched at 45 miles an hour right into a flat spin. The front half of the Hulk's layout is almost completely over water which creates a spectacular effect you won't find on many coasters. Many people get a blackout sensation after the first vertical loop which is a testament to the intensity of this ride. You'll find the Hulk listed in many top 10 coaster lists around the world.
Spiderman
Spiderman is awesome! This ride uses vehicles similar to Countdown To Extinction but there are plenty of extra surprises. The combination of 3D, full motion, and sensory effects couldn't be done more seamlessly. The storyline basically turns you into reporter for the Daily Bugle when Doctor Octopus and company have completely taken over the city. You board the new SCOOP vehicle which is remotely controlled from the bugle and set out to become a newshound but of course you end up trying to help Spiderman help save the city.
According to many, this is the best ride at Islands of Adventure.
Dr. Doom's Fearfall Dr. Doom's Fearfall is one of the shortest rides at Islands Of Adventure, but it may be the scariest as well. This nearly 200 ft. tall machine is designed to remove fear from the riders and if nothing else it does a good job of creating it. Out of nowhere Dr. Doom's Fearfall blasts you to the top of one of two menacing towers and then yanks you down creating a huge amount of air-time before returning you "fearless" to the ground.

Seuss Landing™
|
|
Seuss Landing brings the wacky world of
Dr. Seuss’ many books to colorful and crazy life. Take part in the Cat
in the Hat's zany adventures or ride a One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue
Fish. The island, just like all of the others, is very heavily and
uniquely themed, with Seussian creatures and creations everywhere.
Bright and cheery music innocently brings the island to life. Details
upon details dot the island, even in the most unexpected places.
Although the island is primarily aimed at children, adults are sure to
marvel and delight at all the fun and fantastic sights.
Ride Reviews:
The Cat in the Hat
The grins break out before the ride even begins when the vehicles, bright blue and orange six-passenger "couches," pull into the loading area. The attraction faithfully re-creates the original, seminal "Cat" story. Everything is there, from the Thing-1-and-Thing-2-infused bedlam that borders on anarchy, to the Cat's eventual redemption. Clearly targeted to kids, the ride strikes a chord with anyone who has ever read the classic story--and that's just about everybody.

Jurassic Park®
Jurassic Park, the island 65 million years
in the making, is the largest area of the park and does a great job of
recreating the movie’s atmosphere. The familiar, inspiring music swells
as guests pass under the enormous gates. High-voltage fences line the
perimeter of the lush, tropical jungle, containing the unseen ferocious
dinosaurs that are evidently present by the frequent roars and violently
shaking bushes. John Hammond and Ian Malcolm have even been spotted
roaming the island to chitchat with visitors. The convincing theming
evokes a feeling of wonder, uneasiness, and excitement. This prehistoric
island is sure to amaze and delight any visitor who enters.

Jurassic Park: River Adventure:
A great example of why Islands Of Adventure is not just a coaster park. The Jurassic Park River Adventure starts out with a grand musical entrance followed by a great tour of animatronic dinos, and finally into a thrilling accent and drop with great special effects. As is the norm for IOA, the theming is very strong for Jurassic Park. You really get the feeling that you could be in the movie and you learn how it feels to not be on top of the food chain anymore. The drop is spectacular due to a ferocious T-rex baring down on you and the plunge in near total darkness.
