Universal Studios

The Universal Orlando theme park remains a very full and entertaining day of movie rides and TV trivia. Start your day as the gates open and head for the major rides at the back of the park before working your way back towards the main entrance.

During your Universal Studio Orlando vacation, some very bad weather is forecast to ruin your hair on TWISTER... Ride it Out® (the flying cow is the highlight) and smaller fans of the planet's most popular purple dinosaur will be entranced by A Day In The Park With Barney™. Fievel's Playland® in Woody Woodpecker's KidZoneSM are also great places for the little ones to let loose. Also on Universal Studios vacations, you can pedal across the sky with E.T. San Francisco Area

Universal Studios packages also include a walk down the streets of Amity, a picturesque New England town nestled quietly near the waters where the monster shark Jaws was first seen. The carnival feel of the small town hosts County Fair type games where visitors can win prizes of all shapes and sizes. While visiting Amity, make sure to take a tour of the town in the Amity Cruise lines where shark sightings are hoped to be a thing of the past, until an old friend pays a visit. In addition to the Amity rides and games, Earthquake and Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue can also be found here. These two attractions are given the San Francisco presence with buildings and streets that paint the imagination with an old California feel. The majority of Universal's dining options can be found in this area. You'll be close by with your generous Orlando hotel discount.

Jaws — The quiet boat tour of Amity town starts off well and good until reports come in of a sunken sister ship. Calamity unfolds in this shark encounter ride featuring frightening animatronics and pyrotechnics.

Earthquake — Witness the movie magic behind earth rattling special effects from yesterday and today, as hosted by Charleton Heston. Follow the presentation with a subway ride through an 8.2 earthquake, which brings visitors up close and personal with what the magic is all about.

As part of the many Florida vacation packages we offer, this attraction starts out tame enough. You stop in several theaters where you are shown the magic of movie making. Specifically how the movie Earthquake was made. Pretty interesting stuff but the final scene is the thrill ride. You board what looks like an ordinary subway train and off you go speeding to the next stop. Wait: you feel the ground tremor a little underneath and a voice comes over the speaker telling you that everything is OK, we just experienced a mild... Then the voice is interrupted as everything around you starts to shake. The roof caves in, another incoming train derails and almost collides with your train, and finally a huge wall of water comes straight for you...

Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue – Beetlejuice and his monster friends put on the show of a lifetime featuring live pop music and dance that will have the audience laughing and clapping from start to finish. See why he's the Ghost with the most!

The Wild Wild Wild West Stunt Show - Watch a peaceful frontier town turn into a exploding shooting showdown. Great fun.

Hollywood Area
Ever desire to window shop along Hollywood Blvd ? Now you can at Universal Studios, Florida with the right Orlando vacation packages. The Palm Tree strewn streets lead visitors through up-scale shops and entertaining street shows. Whether it be dining at Mel's 50's diner or sneaking a pic of a celebrity look alike, Universal's Hollywood has loads of fun for everyone. Fight laser-wielding cyborgs and catch the latest in horrifying special effects. The Hollywood Area also spotlights Terminator 2: 3D and the Gory & Gruesome Horror Make-up Show.

Terminator 2: 3D – SkyNet's back and Judgment day could be at hand unless the Terminator can get to the past in time to stop the future! Marvel at the live action teamed with 3D film experience that will leave you believing that the Terminator will be back.

More of a show than anything else this is too spectacular to leave out. You are visiting Cyberdyne to attend a demonstration of their latest technology (including the first generation terminators). After a nifty little pre-show about Cyberdyne's warped sense of direction you enter a large theater. Things quickly get out of hand when a group of rebels from the future takes over the show. The show features 3D effects, live actors, and animatronics that combine for a thrilling adventure.

Gory & Gruesome Horror Make-Up Show – Check out the new Van Helsing-themed Horror Make-up show that will leave you laughing and shaking in your boots. This stage show presentation is hosted live by a hilarious duo of horror connoisseurs and is full of audience interaction and humor.

New York Area
Universal explorers will first spot the NY skyline illusion that caps off one of Universal's most exciting strips. Walk a small replica of the Big Apple with apartments and shops that have that New York feel. Street entertainment, including special performances by the Blues Brothers, is an everyday affair in the New York area. You'll also find some cool treats and hot dogs with many food vendors complimenting the shows. Finally, experience raging storms and vengeful mummies as the New York Area houses Twister and the Revenge of the Mummy, two rides sure to leave visitors completely breathless.

Revenge of the Mummy – The curse of the Mummy has swept over the production studio of Brendan Frasier's newest film, Revenge of the Mummy. Take a dark coaster ride through chilling turns and near misses as riders meet the evil dead up close and fire overhead nearly sweeps adventurers away. An experience not to be missed, as it is Orlando's first and only roller coaster of its kind.

Truly the four-minute ride is chock full of high-tech terrors. An animatronics mummy sucks the green gaseous soul out of an entombed tourist. Lauded as "the most advanced robotic figure ever created" due to technology borrowed from the Mars robotic range vehicle, the mummy's movement is so fluid that the creature could be mistaken for an actor in costume.

The car then jettisons up a 45-foot slope, a la The Hulk rollercoaster, and swoops through the dark in a series of freefalls, twists and floats while accosted by the luminous specters of the dead. At one point, utilizing a track-switching mechanism, the car dead ends and then, just before the riders are engulfed by flesh-eating scarabs, drops backward into an abyss.

Imhotep controls all the elements and uses them against the rider. The coaster shoots through glowing orange miasmas and riders are sprayed with mist (Beware, the front seat is the dampest). The evil mummy, projected on screens, threatens victims in his malleable sandstorm visage. There are multiple dead ends and false stops. One room entraps the car as the mummy turns the ceiling into a gas oven, cooking the riders with flames that reach 3,400-degrees Fahrenheit at ceiling level.

Twister…Ride it Out! – Clouds build overhead, a drive-in theater collapses, and cows fly through the air. Feel the full force of a F-5 tornado in this in-door storm encounter where a twister drops down from above, right in the audience's faces.

This is a totally unique attraction. After viewing some interesting pre-shows with scenes from the movie Twister you enter a theater (formally the Ghostbusters show) and see a drive-in movie in the distance and some other scenery just in front of you. Suddenly the silence is broken when the wind picks up and lightning strikes. In the distance you see a twister form and teat the drive in screen down. Before you know it the twister actually appears only feet away. The wind is very intense and there a few more surprises in store.

The Blues Brothers - Treat yourself to the musical styling of the Blues Brothers: Jake and Elwood Blues, and the coolest blues band to ever take the stage!

Expo Center
Aliens and a time-travelling bully await visitors to the Expos Center. This sci-fi themed area provides a full Science Expo feel with a mock research facility and a replica of the World's Fair towers which overlook the MIB headquarters. Explorers can also find a high-tech Coca-Cola cool-down center that provides refreshments and cooling mists in a fun unique way. Men in Black Alien Attack and Back to the Future: The Ride are both featured in the Expo Center along with special memorabilia and props from both blockbuster films.

Men in Black: Alien Attack – For those that think themselves tough enough to join the MIB ranks, be sure to test your skills at the MIB center where all trainees are equipped with a special alien laser blaster to take down the squirmy scum in their whirling street cars. Find out who is the best shot in this interactive alien ride.

Ride Review:
Very similar to the concept behind Buzz Light-year over at Disney, you're armed with a laser and sent off to battle a bunch of alien bugs. You actually are in competition with another group of guests who travel next to you in their own separate ride vehicle. Make sure you do your best because your teams score will determine the outcome of the ride complete with final thoughts from the Fresh Prince himself.

Back to the Future: The Ride – Biff's back and he's ready to cause trouble. It's up to you and Doc to stop his crazy antics. Hop into a newly designed Delorean and fly through time to chase down Biff and his stolen time machine. Beware of angry Dinos and molten lava!

Ride Review: This simulator ride is one of a kind. The storyline has you helping Doc Brown chase down Bif in a new multi passenger Delorian. You travel into the past, then into the future on your high speed chase through time. You are shaken around so much that we don't recommend this to those fragile thrill seekers out there.
