Disney’s Epcot – Parfums Gavenchy to Open First U.S. Store at Epcot

Gavenchy, a cosmetics company located in France, has decided to open up its first ever boutique in the entire United States- and it has chosen Disney World’s Epcot. Located in France in the World Showcase,  the new boutique takes the place of a storytelling room for Beauty and the Beast’s Belle.

Jean-Cristophe Gandon, the general manager of Parfums Gavenchy, said, “We are thrilled to open our full-range boutique of fragrances and cosmetics in the France Pavilion in Epcot. This is the only place in the United States where the entire range of Givenchy fragrances, skincare and make-up will be available under one roof. We think that Epcot and Givenchy both share the same mission to celebrate innovation and provide an outstanding experience to the consumer. I really believe this new boutique will soon become a favorite among visitors to the France Pavilion in Epcot.”

Although small- about 400 square feet in size- the shop is said by many to be open and not at all crowded, and to not have that strong perfume smell that many fragrance stores do. It features a new Epcot-exclusive line, as well as a large variety of products for woman and men.

Minnie Mouse was present as Jean-Cristophe Gandon and Carlos Castro, Disney’s vice president of development and corporate alliances, cut the ceremonial ribbon. For several days following the opening there were special events, including makeup artists and fragrance specialists inside the boutique helping customers sample the products.

Parfums Gavenchy released its first fragrance in 1957, after the encounter between Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn. In the late 50’s Givenchy launched the first men’s fragrances. Liv Tyler, Justin Timberlake, and Uma Thurman are modern poster people for the company.
