Disney World is full of great characters to meet! We were lucky enough to find Pinocchio on a recent vacation to the Magic Kingdom! He isn’t a character I typically see at the parks (and I go very often!) so this was a real treat.

Pinocchio is a great character because he is mischievous but he is what Disney world is all about! Making your dreams come true! He also looks great in the Main Street Electrical parade at the end of the night, but to be able to hug him is extra special. His is a very interesting story that I think most people forget about until they see him here at the parks! I think everyone should be on the lookout for him when on vacation!

Also, with him there is always a lesson to be learned! As the Blue Fairy said, “A boy who won’t be good might just as well be made of wood!”

For being one of the lesser seen characters in Disney animation, Stitch actually plays a surprisingly large role in the Magic Kingdom. he helps to make everyone’s Walt Disney World vacation just a tad more special with his fun and modern dance party!

The dance party takes place every day/night in Tomorrowland. There is a special stage with a guest DJ where park guests can jam out to top 40 hits and some dance classics. Kids really eat this dance party up!  Also in attendance: Goofy and Pluto, accompanied by Chip and Dale. Stitch is my favorite character in this party though because it’s all about space and Tomorrowland. He’s an alien! How much more perfect can it get than that!?

Stitch is also a fun character for kids and grownups alike since he isn’t perfect! He gets into trouble and he knows that he (and his new family).. “Is little and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good!” (One of the best Disney movie quotes if you ask me)

Every good hotel front desk here in Florida knows that guests have a lot on their plate and that skipping a day at the Theme Parks to accomodate a mid-afternoon check in time is unacceptable! The same goes for checking out super early in the morning then spend the day waiting for a flight.

Plan ahead! Don’t be afraid of arriving in town early! Hotel front desks will gladly take your luggage and safely hold onto it while you spend the day at the theme parks having a wonderful time. You can officially check into your room  later when you’re ready to turn in for the night!

Conversely, on your departure date, don’t worry about booking a late flight and enjoying the full day, too! After check out, simply ask the front desk to hold your bags for you, pick them up on your way to the airport or when you’re ready to hit the road! Don’t waste a minute of your vacation ever again!

Not only is the season you visit going to have an effect on how many other tourists you have to share the park with, but even the day of the week that you decide to go the parks on can change your entire experience!

For example, The Magic Kingdom is busiest early in the week, as families flock to that park first during their vacations. Animal Kingdom is similarly busy on these days, but slightly less. These are the best days to go to Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Similarly, Animal Kingdom is least busy in the middle of the week, and Magic Kingdom is least busy on the weekend.

Now, even with these guides in place, it can still be tricky to work your way around the massive crowds of tourists this season so be prepared to do some waiting in line. However, a little careful planning can go a long way in making your experience the best it can be!

The park was painted red this weekend with supporters donning different shades of bright red t-shirts (the color of the event). Although this event is not officially sponsored by the Disney World Theme Parks, it draws quite a large crowd every year.

People came out by the thousands to watch parades and live shows and go on the many rides and attractions and believe me, their presence was noticed! There were just waves of positivity felt throughout not only the Magic Kingdom Theme park, but all over central florida. Hotels, restaurants and bars have opened their doors to the many Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered visitors, their families and friends, as well as the hundreds of supportive locals.

It is so cool that such a large event like this one takes place in my own hometown every summer! It makes me proud to have grown up near the parks! There is still some time left to go out and enjoy the event, so don’t miss out!

I first saw the projections at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party last year and I was blown away! Since then I have seen it several times (It comes on right before the fireworks begin on Main Street) and each time I love it even more. Now the show is getting a special makeover to incorporate that fun summer feeling people flock to Florida for around this time of year.

New images are said to be more “Summery” and it is rumored that Lilo and Stich, our fun Hawaiian friends, will have a special role in the newly redone show. I cannot wait to see it! Summertime is, besides the great Florida heat, one of the most fun times to be here. Just remember a water bottle, and head to the water parks, too!

Like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, This game uses cards and a series of tasks to lead guests from point A to point B. The major difference here, however, is that instead of using screens and video effects, there are live effects- that is, moving parts, water spouting and so on. It’s incredible!

It is meant for a younger audience than Sorcerers since it is easier to follow, fun to look at and easier to win. This makes repeating the game great for small children but so much for adult players. This game may be about pirates but it is fun for girls and boys, men and women, adults and children. It has a great universal appeal that everyone so far is loving!

I am excited to see what everyone thinks of the new game, and if its popularity will reach that of the Sorcerers of The Magic Kingdom!

You may have realized at some point just how massive the Walt Disney World property is. It is actually by most accounts, larger than the city of San Francisco. That is a lot of land! When Walt Disney bought the swampland, everyone thought the investment was insane! What would a sane investor want to do with that much land in the middle of nowhere, Florida!

Walt bought the land for only $5 million. Yes, $5 million. I wonder if he knew how much that same land would be worth today! Even back in the day, this was a steal. The best part is that to date, only about 30 percent of the land he bought has actually been developed.

One reason for this is that a large part of the land was meant to be developed as an entire city, known now as EPCOT. (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) For more information on that, check out the article I wrote on his amazing concept.

While official registration doesn’t open for the Tinker Bell Half Marathon (in California) until July, participants can log on June 11 and sign up for it at the same time as the Princess half marathon and get a head start on both of this year’s races! This year the Princess Half Marathon will be extra special, as they are adding a 10k and a brand new two-race challenge to the list of events.

The Princess 10K for 2014 will take place on the day before the big annual Half Marathon and participants who complete both races will receive the coveted Disney Glass Slipper Challenge Medal (in addition to the medals they receive for the individual races)

The Princess Half Marathon Weekend is  scheduled for Feb. 20-23 2014. There were over 26,000 registered runners last year so don’t forget to sign up early! These races are more about having fun than winning, and the participating parks have special dinners and parties for runners and their families to mingle and let loose! The races are all about family, fun and health.

With its newest multi-attraction area, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, guests are given a unique opportunity to not only be immersed in the world these animals live, but to become experts on them as well! These opportunities are what make SeaWorld vacations so special.

There are always at least three SeaWorld educators in the new realm ready to teach about Antarctica and penguins and answer any questions guests may have. There are also touch screen stations fully stocked with information for kids to interact with. The goal of these screens is to teach about teamwork and how penguins must work together in order for their community to thrive and survive the harsh weather conditions they encounter.

There is a” family” of penguins (comprised of the 18 species found in the southern hemisphere) carved into a rock wall. Guests can pose for photos with these life-sized bird carvings and kids so far really love them! Fun fact: All of these species are protected by International law and six of the species are endangered!

That’s right. Pillow Pets have invaded Disney before, but never like this. For those of you who don’t know what i’m talking about (and who somehow have never seen the dozens of infomercials) these are Toy Story pillows that convert back into stuffed animals when you aren’t using them.

These are great for car rides, and are a fun reminder of your Disney World vacation that your kids will love forever. Well, i use the term kids very loosely since I am in my 20s and would still adore one of these dinos for the rest of my life. Having one of these on any kid’s bed would really liven up the whole room… (yes, girls too!)

These are perfectly pillow sized, by the way, if you can’t tell from the picture alone. They are cuddly pets that I think are a hundred times cuter than the non-Disney themed versions that are out there. But maybe I’m just biased!

June 7: Vinylmation fans listen up! Meet Disney Design Group Artist Natalie Kennedy.  Natalie will be meeting guests at Disney’s Pin Traders in the Downtown Disney Marketplace from 5:00-7:00 p.m. to sign her latest pin and Vinylmation releases.

June 13-16: Larry Dotson, a well known painter of Disney scenes and theme parks will be showing off the newest releases in his collection at the Art of Disney in Downtown Disney Marketplace.

(Larry Dotson is a staple of these monthly merchandise events and he will also be at making an appearance Uptown Jewelers in the Magic Kingdom theme park from June 27–30).

June 14: Disney Design Group artist Ron Cohee will be signing the new Monsters University Series 1 Vinylmation. You can find him at D Street in Downtown Disney’s West Side Shopping area from 5:00–7:00 p.m.

One of the most fun things you can do on a Walt Disney World vacation is visit Mickey and Minnie Mouse! You may notice then, that every time you see them out and about, whether it be on a parade float, walking the park or signing autographs, they are wearing a different outfit!

Animal Kingdom calls for safari gear, celebrations call for party clothes and the Electrical parade calls for flashy light up duds. But how many outfits can these two mice possibly need? Surprisingly, it takes a large wardrobe for the rulers of Walt Disney World to keep up appearances.

Costume designers and technicians are hard at work every day making sure they always look their best. Mickey Mouse has more than 290 different outfits (that means without counting duplicate clothes) and Minnie Mouse has more than 200! Just think about it; each theme park has its own set of shows and parades, meet and greets and special functions that require their own special flair and dress code!

That’s a lot of tailoring, laundry, quick fixes and changes!

The America Gardens Theatre has seen a lot of concerts! Every year, the summer concert series fills Epcot Center’s World Showcase with great music. The series runs from June 9 through July 27.

Here is the early schedule that has been released. So far, the lineup looks great. I don’t know what changes will be coming since this is a very early list, so stay tuned for the final one when it comes out! Can’t wait to see who will play on July 4!

Once inside, guests on their SeaWorld vacations are immersed in the adventure of Antarctica as actors inside the cafe come make everyone official explorers. The food used here is locally grown and healthy. Meant to taste like melting snow, the refreshing new drink the “Vanilla South Pole Chill” is only available at this location and is a sweet, cream soda based beverage.

I love the look and feel of the place- it really does immerse one into the Antarctic atmosphere that has been so carefully put into place. i mean look at that structure! It looks like its been sitting there in the harsh weather conditions for decades!

I imagined there would be all kinds of lamps, experiments and beakers inside from the looks of it! But refreshing foods and drinks are just as good in the Florida summer.

Sometimes while on a Disney vacation, something magical happens; you run into a character you were never expecting to see! Looking for characters in their native countries (or at least a similar one to where they come from) is a fun game that I have started playing recently. (Each country that is participating will have a sign telling you when you can expect to see your favorite characters! For example, Mulan in China, Aladdin in Morocco and so on….)

I often forget that Mary Poppins is even a character to be found at Disney (Possibly because she’s the only non-animated face character…correct me if I’m wrong….) until she pops up! It always surprises me to see her. I love her impeccable white outfit. Just look at the attention to detail they put into her costume! I tell you. Disney always makes sure everyone looks their best! These two dirty staples of the television show will help bring the cartoon to life and delight adult fans. Finally, adult friendly character meet and greets! Universal Studios Orlando has always been good at providing adults with as much fun as children, but this Simpsons land is looking to be much more geared for parents than children (at least small ones). But this isn’t the only big change coming to this area this summer.

A new ride will also be opening. The Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl is “an intergalactic spin designed to send them into orbit.” By the name of it, it sounds like it will be a carnival style spinning machine- I am excited to see what it will look like! These types of rides make me extremely dizzy, but I think that’s the point, looking at the painfully honest title of the ride.

I can see very far back in this concept drawing, that it looks like the aliens from the show will be the main structure for the ride. How exciting!
