Wear comfortable shoes while on your Orlando vacation! It may seem like an obvious tip, but many guests will choose fashion over function and come to regret it. Unless you want to scour the parks for some band-aids, comfort is the way to go. If you’re planning on going out later on- say, to CityWalk, Pleasure Island, or downtown- then by all means, bring a stylish pair of sandals with you. Another note- many people stop at the first-aid stations because of blisters caused by their Crocs, so opt for sneakers if you can. If your shoes get wet while you’re out, make sure to dry them out at night.
Messy kids? Bleach pens are easy to carry [don’t forget to pack them in your checked luggage!] and work great for quick stain removal.
Especially if you’re going to a water park, plastic zip-up bags are the way to go! You can put your camera, cell phones, and wallet in a bag to keep them dry during the trip; on your way home, wet clothes, swimsuits, and dirty clothes are kept away from your other possessions.
If you have a lot of electronics- camera, laptops, cell phones, hair dryers, rechargeable batteries, and more- that need to be plugged in, consider bringing an extension cord with multiple outlets. That will keep all of your chargers and such in one place so that you don’t forget them in your hotel room when you leave.
Snacks, books, toys, handheld games [on mute], and puzzles of the sudoku and crossword variety will keep you distracted in the sometimes long lines to get into the more popular rides. Wait times are usually rounded up, but it never hurts to keep your mind and hands busy.
For those of you who cannot leave the house- or hotel room- without makeup, use waterproof mascara! There are many ways to get wet even in non-water parks, and on the hottest of days you don’t want mascara running into your eyes.
