Orlando Vacations – Manners Please! Part 2

In my last post, I covered manners for shows. This time let’s focus on a similar phenomenon: loss of common sense during parades.

As a little girl, adults always let me in front of them to watch my favorite Disney or Universal characters during parades. These days I watch children struggling to see because an entitled stranger refuses to allow them in front. Now, there’s no rule that states you have to let someone else’s child in front of you. But not every child has someone’s shoulders to sit on. They’re too short to block your vision- let kids in front!

Feel free to cheer when your favorite Universal or Disney characters roll by. Feel free to drop your cheers to a normal level the rest of the time. The rest of us want to hear the music and cheer for our favorites, too!

Please, when taking photos or video, watch your elbows! I cannot count the amount of times my parade-watching fun was interrupted by an elbow to the kidney or even head (I admit it, I’m a bit on the short side). Feel free to take as many photos as you want- but watch out for people on either side of you. They’ll silently thank you when someone ELSE elbows them in the kidney.

Nighttime parades are a photo frenzy- but try not to blind the characters or other guests with a constant flash wave. The characters will thank you for this one, too. No princess, superhero, or dancer likes missing a step on a parade float.
