Universal Orlando – The Harry Potter Mood

As we all know, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is scheduled to open at Universal’s Islands of Adventure in a few months (exact date unknown). Even with higher ticket prices, fans are sure to swarm the doors on opening day. Are you going to be one of those fans?

To make sure you’re in the mood for a day in Harry Potter land, we have some ideas for you:

~We recommend making a day of it, perhaps even dressing up in your favorite house’s colors.

~Reread your favorite chapters from all 7 books. Invite your friends over and act them out; have fun with the voices!

~Get all the friends (and family) together and watch the movies with popcorn.

~Make your own props- wands can be made using wooden branches and glitter; owls are easily constructed from felt, cotton balls, feathers, and some imagination!

~Listen to the amazing Harry Potter soundtrack and meditate on the series.

~Have a favorite character? My personal favorite- Luna Lovegood. Become that character for a day (in my case, I‘d make a bottle-cap necklace and large, colorful earrings), or write them a letter with real parchment and quill. Send it via muggle post to one of your friends!

~Hold a Harry Potter-themed party the night before; scour the internet for a delicious butterbeer recipe and serve a Harry Potter cake, and impress everyone with dry ice in the ‘potions punch’.
