Islands of Adventure

Universal’s Islands of Adventure was part of the expansion that included CityWalk and the Hard Rock and Portofino hotels. It opened in May 1999. There are six themed areas, including an entranceway, with a seventh one in the works opening June 18, 2010 based on JK Rowling’s Harry Potter (for more information about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter click here).

The Port of Entry is the park’s entrance, and contains many shops as well as guest services. It features a restaurant and the park’s primary gift shop.
 

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is scheduled to be completed in spring 2010. It will contain Hogwarts Castle, the Forbidden forest, Hogsmeade, and many themed rides and shops. It will encompass about 20 acres and is a much anticipated addition to the theme park.
